Champs Elysées is on the right side of the Seine : Rive Droite. This side of the river is said to be the side of the power because there are most the ministries and mainly the Elysées ( President's house ) and Matignon ( First Minister's Office ) and also le Louvre which was the residence of kings for centuries. It is the oldest part of Paris because the left side of the river has grown mainly in the last 2 centuries. In opposition of the rive droite, the rive gauche was the artist place with all jazz bars ( St Germain des Pré ... ) and a big place for the may68 protestation since the Sorbone is located in Odéon.
Anyway, I love the Champs Elysées and I have an apartment near the Arc de Triomphe.
Regards

Reaper,

It's the right side of the Seine river.
I've found a useful link about attractions and its location on both sides: http://www.parislogue.com/featured-articles/left-bank-vs-right-bank-whats-the-difference.html
