ID 503: Apartment in Paris, 8-th arrondissement
Week: €1,274.00 (Agency fee is included)
General Description
A lovely space, with an emphasis on comfort, this one bedroom apartment sleeps up to four persons. Unique stone wall design plays against the dark reddish-brown tiled floor in the living space, which contains two couches and light drapery over impressive windows. A ladder allows access to mezzanine sleeping quarters, while the simple bedroom layout contains a double bed. Opposite the couches in the living room looks like a study, with darker colors, partially filled bookshelves and a desk. There is also a small area to dine in front of the fully equipped kitchen; the studio-like space separates the living room, study, table and kitchen with subtle visual changes in the motif.
The Living Room
The living room is ideal for entertainment, relaxation and study. Most notable are the large windows adorned with light blue drapery; natural light accentuates the light and dark decorative elements of the entire space. Two mustard sofa beds positioned adjacent to one another are met with a corner table that holds a lamp with a green base and white shade; a glass coffee table placed on a light throw rug lies in front of the sofas. On the opposite side of the room, a television set is placed in front of a study-like backdrop. In contrast to the light stone on the wall behind the sofas, this side of the room contains full-length wood bookshelves (with books); near the windows is a small computer desk with chair and desk lamp.
The Dining Area
Still part of the overall living area, the dining area consists of a circular tinted-glass table with three chairs.
The Kitchen
In this large room, the kitchen area is opposite from the windows. Cabinets above and below a countertop with built-in sink provide substantial storage; in addition, the American kitchen contains a refrigerator and microwave.
The Bedroom
Open and bright, the bedroom focuses on the basics including a double bed with wooden frame and matching wooded nightstands with lamps at both sides. A blue and white motif includes the blue bedding, ceiling and windowpanes.
The Mezzanine
The mezzanine overlooks the entire living space and provides sleeping quarters for one person.
The Bathroom
The finished bath contains a toilet, washbasin, bath and WC. Combining colors found throughout the apartment, the bathroom has white tiled floors, blue tiles in the shower and blue paint on the opposite wall, wooden shelving, including a ledge in front of the window adorned with a brownish-orange curtain. A well-lit mirror with small protruding ledge, drawer space underneath the sink and a place to hang towels complete the room.
The Area/Environment
The 4th area of Paris is unique due to its intricate, wide canal system and historic sites such as the Saint Louis en I’Ile de la Cité. Located on the Ile Sait-Louis, one of two natural islands on the river Seine, this apartment offers a pleasant calmness in contrast to the busy streets in central Paris. The surrounding area is primarily residential, however, residents have access to several restaurants, shops, cafés and museums. Although there are a number of places of historical value, the location of the apartment is appreciated for its calm, quaint and charming environment. Metro: Pont Marie (line 7)
