The Area/Environment
The 12th district is located on the right bank of the Seine River. The area is primarily residential. The 12th Arrondissement of Paris is on the right bank of the River Seine. This area has seen extensive renovation in the last decades. The French Ministry of Finances is located here, as is the Bois de Vincennes Park. The park is gorgeous and landscaped wonderfully, especially around the town hall. The 2nd largest opera house in the city is found here as is the largest private cemetery – the Picpus Cemetery. This cemetery is a very interesting place to visit and holds the remains of the French aristocrats who were guillotined during the Revolution of the 1700′s.
